As a Manager, IT Operations is accountable for monitoring, diagnosing, developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly application & platform services. S/he will work closely with the team towards resolution of system and user related problems. Working together they must schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. By leveraging technical skills, knowledge and expertise, will provide suggestions, recommendations and improvements to the IT Operations pillar, the use and management of IT services, as well as providing recommendations and collaborating with the other IT groups.
This role has approximately 3 to 5 direct reports (payroll and non-payroll) that manage the sustainment of applications, systems, and services.
HERE’S HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:
- Assist in creating methodologies and processes for the collection and analysis of data for ensuring software, systems, and product quality.
- Direct the analysis of documentation and technical specifications for any new application or system under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality.
- Implement and oversee change control processes, practices, and guidelines for new and existing applications or systems.
- Leverage skills, knowledge and expertise to provide suggestions, recommendations and improvements to existing infrastructure systems and integrations
- Provide leadership to the infrastructure team by communicating strategies, and objectives
- Collect and convey information relating to needs, issues and opportunities to appropriate internal business partners through development and ownership of key relationships, to ensure that the needs of the clients are being met.
- Inspire, motivate and empower people to deliver departmental goals, while also delivering value back to employees. This includes coaching, mentoring and managing employee performance in Oakville and London locations as well as offshore resources.
- Work with project teams to understand system implementation details for the development of effective plans to implement on time and on budget.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a managerial role within an IT infrastructure environment
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a technical / hands on role
- Solid knowledge of ITIL/ITSM best practices IT environments
- Strong collaboration and communication facilitation skills to manage through the often-opposing demands pit on Infrastructure team resources by project demands
- University degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
